Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital

Clinical Services

At Lawrence Hargarve Private Hospital programs are offered on an inpatient, day patient and outpatient basis.

INPATIENT SERVICES

Inpatient rehabilitation is suitable for patients who require the support of medical and nursing care in the hospital environment to help achieve their desired functional outcomes.

Our team of medical specialists, rehabilitation nurses and allied health professionals will work with you to design and implement a rehabilitation program that enables you to achieve the highest level of independence in both the hospital setting and on your return home. A weekly case conference with the rehabilitation team is conducted to assess each individual's program and progress to date.

Realistic goals for recovery are set, with the program continuing until your established goals are achieved or progress plateaus. At the point of being able to manage safely in your own home, options such as Day Program rehabilitation may be considered to further enhance your recovery following your discharge from the inpatient setting.

Inpatient Admission

Our Admissions Officer will discuss a number of administrative aspects of your admission with you following your arrival. These relate to health fund claims and ensuring your privacy during your stay with us. If you have any questions regarding your health fund coverage, please do not hesitate to ask.

You may be admitted to our inpatient program from an acute hospital or following a referral to one of our Specialists from your Surgeon/GP/Specialist.

DAY PROGRAM SERVICES

Lawrence Hargrave Hospital's Rehabilitation Day Program is suitable if you have established rehabilitation needs but do not require the support of inpatient medical and nursing care. Our program can be accessed either following an inpatient stay or via an external referral from your Specialist or GP. The program involves a number of therapy sessions during each attendance. The total number of attendances will vary according to your individual circumstances, but typical programs involve two to three attendances per week for several weeks.

Prior to commencement on the Day Program, we will undertake a health fund check to ensure your eligibility. Following the successful completion of this check, we will organise an initial assessment for you to be conducted by a Rehabilitation Specialist and our therapists. Together, this will allow for the goals of your rehabilitation program to be established.

The length of your program and the mix of therapies you will receive will be determined following your initial assessment. Our Day Program Coordinator will schedule the necessary sessions for you and discuss any transport and special dietary requirements you may have.

You need to be comfortable during your therapy sessions, so we ask you to consider wearing the following;

  • Loose, comfortable clothing including tracksuits, pants and shorts
  • Comfortable, flat, closed shoes
  • Swimming costume and towel for hydrotherapy

We provide a light lunch in our Patient Dining Room as well morning and afternoon teas in the Day Program Lounge.

The hospital also provides a transport service for eligible clients.
