Aug 01, 2013
The hydrotherapy pool at Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital was recently reopened following a significant renovation of the existing facility. Major upgrades were made to the pool and its surrounds, including, improved patient access, new change facilities for both patients and staff, and a new plant room fitout leading to better water and air quality. The vast improvements have been keenly welcomed by the pool's many users, some whom have been accessing the services for more than 20 years. The hospital is now equipped with a modern 18 metre hydrotherapy pool, a large physiotherapy and exercise gym, occupational therapy department and a day patient area.
As the Illawarra's largest and most modern specialist hydrotherapy facility, it is able to offer a broad range of inpatient, day patient and outpatient services to the Illawarra and surrounding communities.
Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital is a rehabilitation, medical and palliative care facility offering a full range of services for patients following orthopaedic, spinal and cardiac surgery, neurological and pain related conditions, multi trauma, amputee and general reconditioning. Services are available for all patients where there is a need to improve tolerance, strength, pain relief and or functional ability and independence.
The hospital has a full range of ancillary services including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social worker, clinical psychologist, and dietetics. The hospital also offers Radio Frequency Neurotomy and diagnostic procedures under Image Intensifier, for pain management.
The hydrotherapy refurbishment comes on the back of a multimillion dollar redevelopment and expansion of Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital which was completed in 2009, where the hospitals inpatient facilities were expanded.
Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital CEO, Robyn Ashe said " The hospital is now able to boast about its state of the art facilities and is well placed in being able to provide a first class service, which meets the increasing needs for rehabilitation in the Illawarra Region. It enables the hospital to enhance its existing exceptional reputation."
