The hospital is equipped with an 18 metre hydrotherapy pool, a large physiotherapy and exercise gym, occupational therapy department and a day patient area. The Palliative Care Services are supported by the medical practitioners from the Illawarra Area Health Service.
The hospital, set in attractive bushland and boasting sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, is located 10 kilometres north of Wollongong.
Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital is owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia’s largest and most respected operator of private hospitals.
A multimillion dollar redevelopment and expansion of Lawrence Hargrave Private Hospital was completed in October 2009, enabling the hospital to provide expanded state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities to patients in the Illawarra district.
The construction, costing $9 million, has significantly expanded and improved the hospital’s inpatient facilities with new accommodation as well as improved outpatient and consulting facilities.
The cornerstone of the redevelopment was the expansion of the hospital’s inpatient facilities seeing the hospital grow to 54 beds – the majority of these being private rooms with ensuites.
